Hunter - 9 months

OK, so Hunter turned 9 months old...I can't believe he's already 9 months old! Where did the time go??? He will stand up holding onto the coffee table, but can't get up there on his own yet. He even "cruised" a couple of steps the other day, but I couldn't get him to duplicate the effort on camera. :)

He appears to be saying "GO TEAM" in the picture below...he's pretty proud of his new found talent of feeding himself.
And this is the newest facial expression. I call it squinchy face, and the sound he makes with it is even better than the face itself.

Yes, that's a smirk...

And a crooked smile...And here, Hunter was trying to blend in with his surroundings...can you find the baby??? :)

More video (plus a picture or two)

What a week! As busy as Mommy and Daddy are, Hunter is just as busy with all of his new activities. He's feeding himself regularly now (I'd say he's successfully getting the food into his mouth about 90% of the time by now). Jake isn't nearly as stuffed since the cereal isn't hitting the ground as often any more. :) Hunter absolutely loves the biter biscuits (or whatever those things are called). They have to be the messiest food we've encountered so far. Hunter really loves his solids...he's doing stage 3 foods now, with some 2's mixed in. I think he's supposed to get 5 "servings" a day, and he's getting more like 7 or 8. When we went to the doctor last week (some sort of virus), he was 30.5 inches and over 20 lbs. He'll have his official 9 month weigh in sometime next week (still need to make that appt...).

Hunter is also starting to get around the house, in his own ways, without actually crawling. He does the "butt scoot" pretty well, but it keeps him within a 3 foot radius. The best way he's figured out to move is to go backwards, and then turn around (since he master the full 360 weeks ago). He also will hold onto the coffee table (or anything that height) for a good while and then plops down on his rear - he pretends that it hurts until we tell him he's fine and then he wants us to put him back up. He hasn't figured out yet what he can grab hold of to pull himself up there (it's not the most kid friendly coffee table). He did start to pull his knees up to crawling position today, so maybe he will actually crawl the "right" way. Today it was pretty obvious that either way, we're going to have to do some more baby proofing.

We also took full advantage of the beautiful weekend and spent some time on the swings. I had the camera yesterday and got a few pics (only posting one for now) and a video. Enjoy!!

Various videos

I've actually gotten a lot more video over the last few days. This first one was when he was sick and was going in and out of "conciousness." Hunter is one of those that is very entertaining when he's incredibly exhausted. And Kristi is one of those mommies that takes full advantage of that and gets it on video whenever she can.

This one is of riding the horsey. I got one of patty cake too, but it wasn't nearly as cute.

And this one is a rare occasion. This was actually the very first time Hunter fed himself finger foods. We had been trying it out, but never at a time where he was hungry but not too hungry. I actually recorded lots and lots of minutes, but I am sparing you and only giving you the edited version where he actually finds his mouth and the food stays there. :)

Post script...Hunter has also figured out how to keep his balance while holding onto something besides Mommy and Daddy, but I haven't captured it on film yet. He even falls pretty good - usually on his bottom, with Mom's hands close behind just in case. No, he isn't pulling himself up to the standing position on his own - we're still helping, but at least he's even interested in the idea now!!

Just another day...

Hunter's friend Landon came over to play yesterday, and we caught a picture of them sitting on the staircase. Landon is a pro at crawling all over the place, climbing stairs, pulling up on everything in sight - Hunter just watched and hopefully took it all in so that he can learn from his older, wiser friend (only a month older, but still, a great example to learn from). We were very glad to see Landon (and his parents, of course). :)
Hunter and Mommy were at home this afternoon because Hunter has a temp. No idea what's wrong yet, but before he went down for a nap, I caught him on video playing his drum and making his new "sing song" voice. Lucky moments...

Happy Valentine's Day

Just imagine how many there were to choose from... :)
