How old is Hunter? … TWO!!!

Two years…where have they gone??

I took the video camera into Hunter’s bedroom this morning when I went to wake him up.  To say the least, the few seconds recorded above took a long time to get – he was determined to see what I was looking at in the camera, so I had to turn the screen around so that he could watch himself.  That’s why he’s looking to the left of the lens.

Anyway, he had a great day at school today.  He kept telling everyone it was his birthday.  We practiced blowing out a candle after dinner – he finally succeeded, so we’ll see how he does tomorrow at his party.  He was much more interested in eating the cupcake than he was in the candle.

I will post many more pictures, thoughts, and videos later in the weekend, once I get all the material together.  For now, I am off to bed (finally).

Happy Birthday, Hunter, my love!

As promised

This is a bit of a random post – forgive me.  I have catching up to do on pictures.

Baby Shower for Courtney

Here are some of my favorite pictures from the baby shower we threw for my friend Courtney a couple of weeks ago.  She is due with a baby girl too, about a week ahead of me.  She’s absolutely adorable pregnant – no surprise there.  We’ve known each other since kindergarten (maybe before?) and the other hostesses also went to kindergarten with us, so we’ve all known each other pretty much forever.  It was good to catch up!!

Courtney in the middle, with her sister and mom.  I love this picture!

Back row – Missy, Missy’s mom Sandy (my second mom as a child), Jill, and I believe that’s Courtney’s aunt on the far right.  Me and Courtney are in the front, bellies hidden.  :)

Keep in mind that it was POURING outside, so all of us disclaimed the shape our hair was in by the end of the shower.  We ended up with a great turnout and Courtney wracked up on the gifts.  Yay for her!!!

First trip to the Children’s Museum

Had Hunter had his nap before we got to the museum on Sunday, the trip would have been perfect.  It was still a LOT of fun, but he wore out quickly and had to have a quick “time out” beside the playground when he refused to get back into his stroller (which we shouldn’t have bothered taking in as it turned out).  There is SO much to look at in the Children’s Museum.  I strongly recommend it for ages 2 and up.

Cowboy Hunter

Uncle Brad gave us this cowboy hat last time he was in town for the rodeo.  Hunter hadn’t really wanted to keep it on long enough for a picture, but when Uncle Brad visited this weekend, we got some great shots.  (Don’t worry MeMa – I’ve already gotten some printed and will give you your copies when you’re here on Saturday.)  :)

Cowboy Hunter

Two years ago tonight, I was anxious as anything to wake up the next morning and head to the hospital to be induced…I can’t believe he’s already two…more tomorrow, I promise.

Coming soon...

It took Hunter turning 2 to get me to work on his baby scrapbook again. I think I have a total of 15 pages now, 4 of which are out of sequence and waiting to actually be "placed" in the book. I will take some pictures of the newest pages and post them soon.
.
I will also get pictures of the kids' new rooms. Hunter's was nearly completed today with the final pieces of his big boy bedding. We also got his personalized bean bag earlier in the week. His room is so much cooler than we had imagined. Only thing left is the airplane art we bought on Saturday that should arrive in 4-6 weeks.
.
For baby girl's room, the picture will show the name we've chosen, so I'll hold off on telling all until I get the picture taken and posted. Yay!!
.
And of course, Hunter's birthday is Friday, so we should have pictures from his party this weekend. It's an all family party, so don't get your feelings hurt if you weren't invited. He is SO excited about turning 2 - he'll tell you how old he's going to be, but can't get his fingers to do it yet. He also has his well baby visit on Friday, so we'll see if the doctor agrees with us about how perfect he is. :)

Almost 2-year Pictures

So they weren't actually taken when he's 2, but close enough, and these are by far the best professional photos we've ever had taken. And they were done at school, on a day that I didn't even know they were doing pictures, so I thought he was going to have messy hair and a dirty t-shirt on. Imagine my surprise...

Three Things...

So, first off, Hunter apparently slept on the floor last night! I noticed he was having a hard time settling down last night when I put him to bed, but I had no clue he didn't actually end up IN bed after all that fussing. When I walked in this morning and didn't see my son in his bed, I panicked for a second until I felt the door hit something - he was asleep on the floor behind his door. Crazy kid...
.
Second, and if anyone has any tips on this, I would appreciate it, he no longer wants to keep his glasses on. Not only is he taking them off, he's chewing the nosepieces. Thankfully, they are cheap to replace, but having to replace one or both on a daily basis is getting pretty old. He starts a new classroom next week and one of the kids has glasses, so I'm hoping he'll see Austin wearing his like a big boy and will leave his own alone. The other thing the optician suggested is rewarding him for keeping them on for certain lengths of time, which I can certainly do on the weekends, but I can't expect Kids R Kids to do that when they have 10 (or more) other children to look after.
.
Last but not least, we have a spot reserved for us at Lakewood Montessori school for September 1 for Hunter. I'm hoping baby girl comes a little early so that I'm back on my feet and ready to take him to school myself by that date - if not, we might push it back a little further. Not that Brent can't handle it, but if I'm going to be the one taking Hunter 90% of the time, I'd like to be the one introducing him to his teachers and seeing how things are going face-to-face rather than hearing it from Brent every morning and evening. Hopefully, baby girl will get a spot before I have to go back to work, but if now, we'll just split them up for a couple of months and take her to Kids R Kids temporarily. This is all assuming Hunter does well in the new school, which we think he will. They already introduced me to his lead teacher and she's been there for 5 years, which is so much better than the tenure of the teachers we've had at KRK.
.
Anyway, I'm babbling. Any tips on keeping the glasses on would be appreciated!!
