Big Boy Bed

Yes, it went great.  Even nap time today.  He did wake up a few times during the night, probably a bit confused, but I never had to go in (with him knowing anyway).  And tonight, only 5 minutes or so of “Mommy, Daddy” – still don’t think he got out of the bed though.  Hopefully, it keeps getting better and better.  No “real” pictures of the bed yet because we want to paint the room (also new) and get the rest of his bedding in (backorder).

Yes, I had to use night shot on the camera because it’s pitch dark in his room.  For those of you who have been to our house, we left his “baby” furniture in the same room it was in and put the big boy furniture in the room that connects to his with the jack-n-jill bath.  It’s a bigger room and also kept us from having to move the nursery furniture.  (Baby Girl’s bedding should be delivered by Tuesday!!  Can’t wait!!)

Note the hands tucked in his diaper – LOVE it!!  And yes, that’s a book by his head – he wanted to keep the monkeys with him.  Thankfully, they didn’t inspire him to jump on the bed.

And no, I couldn’t see what I was doing – I knew he was awake because we’d heard thumps and bumps.  I was literally spying on him to make sure he hadn’t figured out how to remove the bed rails or something, sticking my hand with the camera through a 5 inch crack in the bathroom door.  I had to take the camera downstairs to actually view it!  Once I did look at it, because of the nightshot, it totally looked like he had managed to get his PJs off – I was glad to see that wasn’t the case when I got him up this morning.  I guess it’s just because of the way the camera works in that mode.  Very strange…

So another transition goes smoothly.  So smoothly that every time I told him we were going upstairs today, he said “new bed?” with expectancy.  When I told him to say night night to Daddy tonight, “new bed?”  He loves it!  I love it!!  We all love it!!

Great video!!! (and more)

Brent has yet to even witness this in person.  When Mommy sneezes, when Jake sneezes, even when Daddy sneezes, Hunter says “Bless you Mommy.”  I tried to correct him last night when he said it after Daddy’s fake sneeze, but I think he thinks it belongs together – so Mommy will just be extra blessed.  :)

I also remembered to save some more pictures from the old computer onto our thumb drive so that I can post them here.  The first set is from the Eilers’ visit in March – one video and a few more pictures.

This is Kate – she was SO much better at the cookie decorating than any of the rest of us!!

Old videos and some pictures

These first two videos were taken back in March when I first realized Hunter could eat like a big boy.  There is no telling how long he could do this before I realized it.  I threw in the second of him drinking out of a cup because I don’t think I’ve posted a video of it.

This one is obvious…Hunter’s Easter Egg Hunt from last weekend.

And this is the oldest one – taken on Christmas day.  One of Hunter’s favorite toys from Santa was the Little People School Bus.

These pictures were taken last month when the Eilers came to visit us.  Jill and Hunter were fast friends.  And Tess knew how to check the baby’s diaper.  Hunter was disappointed when they left and stood by the front door for quite awhile, hoping they would come back.  :)

We also decorated sugar cookies.  I forgot to put those pictures on the CD to transfer them over to the new computer.  Hopefully, I will get a flash drive this week so that I can more easily transfer files.  Kate is the twins’ older sister and she decorated some of the prettiest cookies!!  Sorry there are no pictures of her handiwork.

Potty Time

Hunter went tee-tee on the potty this morning!! YAY!!!! I think I shocked his system, grabbing him out of the crib before he was really awake and before he had a chance to go in his diaper. He didn't want me to take his diaper off (he was quite upset with me for disturbing his sleep), so I figured he probably still needed to go. Onto the potty we went - he was talking about Summer or Daddy or who knows, and all of the sudden, I look down and he's going!! To say the least, we made a HUGE deal about it. He wanted to stay on the potty for quite awhile too - I thought for a minute he was going to do number 2 as well!!
Anyway, very exciting morning in the Smith household!!!

Getting a new computer...

Just in time since I was about to throw this one out the window. We ordered a new Dell desktop, with the help of my trusty brother-in-law, Heath, because the man knows everything there is to know about computers. We just ordered it like this weekend or something and part of it is going to be delivered TOMORROW, with the rest on Thursday. I'm so shocked at how quickly they put this thing together and got it shipped. Good job Dell. Now maybe I can actually load videos into photobucket so that I can post them here! And make my pictures as big as I want them practicing tricks I learned on this favorite blog. Yay!!

A few of my favorite things...

1. Hunter's idea of counting to 10: "one, two, free, five, ten" with a lot of clapping at the end. Sometimes he throws "nine" in there for good measure. And in "Five Little Monkeys Sitting in a Tree," on the page where you count the 5 monkeys, it's just pointing to random places in the book and saying "five."

2. Another "Five Little Monkeys..." cute thing...he says "SAP" when you get to each page where the crocodile "SNAP"s at the monkeys.

3. He still says "more" when you get to the end of a song or a book, but I also taught him "again" which comes out more like "ageen." Not to be confused with Aggies, which he is also working on.

4. No matter what Hunter is eating, he will undoubtedly ask for his "poon" once he has the food in front of him, and then he will even more certainly tell you "big bite" when he gets a nice piece on the spoon while eating.

5. Hunter is a master at collecting things into a container, so Easter egg hunting was a breeze. I think there was a 12 egg limit so we gave some away to the smaller kids and ended up with 13 once we got home and actually counted. He was in the 0-2 age range - still not liking the whole Easter bunny thing though. Oh well. And we didn't get any good an Elmo basket - he has bunny ears too.
Playing on the jungle gym before we started

I tell you what - there are a lot of eggs in this little corner!

A glimpse of the Elmo Easter basket.

I'm not posing...I just fell trying to climb the mulch to get to an egg.

Me and Daddy hunting eggs!

I found another one!!!

That fuzzy thing is kinda scary and I'm hot. Can we go now??
